Power Management on the M3... series is done via Toshiba utilities running 
under Windows. Obviously, with Linx installed, you won't have access to 
them.

It sounds like Linux is running the CPU, screen, disc drive and everything 
else at full power, all the time. That will reduce battery life between 
charges, but I shouldn't think it would harm the computer. Noisy, yes. 

Unless some volunteer here knows of any trick, I would think your best bet 
would be to search the web and UUNet for Linux add-on utilites that offer 
power management features for Celeron CPUs and Toshiba screens/drives. If 
you haven't tried the Toshiba web site's Downloads pages yet, that would 
be the first thing I would recommend. If that turns up a blank, then 
assitance from the Linux World is most likely to yield a solution.
