Although not all individuals interested in politics are also
interested in social activism, some people are and I thought I would
share a great book on the topic that I just finished reading.
"Meeting the Enemy, Becoming a Friend" by Melinda Gelder talks about
her personal experience living and working in Japan on a U.S. military
base. The book discusses her attitude towards the military and how it
changed over time as she came to be involved in local issues related
to the Japanese-U.S. military situation. A real insightful book on
how individuals can help make political changes at the local level,
even when dealing with such giant institutions as the U.S. military.
I highly recommend it.
