Kevin -

Agreed on the L-brackets/straps always worked for us.  I've also seen
the adjustable 1/4" bolt thing (kind of like a "t" nut in reverse -
mounts to the top of the cabinet or shelf post, and backs out,towards
the overheard to secure the fixture/post.
