The two that are of note are Lotteria and Mossburger. I like some
Mossburger varieties, but not many; they're made for local tastes more
than McDs, Wendys, etc. If you spend any time at all in fast food
restaurants you'll quickly see that they're more of a place to hang
out, though on my last trip it seemed that trend is declining a bit, at
least in Himeji (which is usually on the tail end of any trend). Of all
the fast US food joints in Japan I must say KFC is the best (the
chicken is somewhat less greasy) Wendy's in Japan is fairly unchanged
from the US, IMHO, so it doesn't suck all that much. I hate McDs
everywhere and I've only ever gone there once so my son could get a
Japanese kids meal toy to show his friends in the US (he hates McDs as
well, thankfully).
