there is noticably more color in the new GBA version when compared to
the original 1991 Super Famicom / SNES version.    also, the old
SFC/SNES version didn't have character portraits.

with that said, I cannot say how this new GBA  ffiv/ff2 compares to the
PS1 and Wonderswan versions since I haven't seen those.
