Contemporary colloquialisms
Hi there. I recently came back from Japan after 11 months and I'm soon
to start studying more of the language at University. While I was in
Japan, I often came across words that are usually unlisted in
dictionaries (slang, faddish words - etc). Even though I was near Osaka
and thus had to contend with Kansai dialect, I was wondering if anyone
could direct me to a site that has some up-to-date information on
modern colloquialisms, and maybe even information on the Kansai dialect
and the Tokyo equivalents.
Specifically, if anyone could give me an accurate definition of:
やばい
when used as an exclamation or part of a statement, I'd be pleased.
Everyone I've asked has failed to clearly explain it to me ^_^;.
Thanks,
-Michael
