Your grip on the concept of an asymptote is a little weak.
The function 1/x never has the value zero and yet it has values that
are arbitrarily close to zero the further out you go in x. Likewise, it
is perfectly well behaved for all positive values of x, with absolutely
no irregularities at all, and yet there is a boundary of this good
behavior at zero.
