I woulda made this thread earlier, but i realized it was too late to
continue my old movie thread, and I became dissillusioned.



       Kurosawa is a genius.  Now b4 you yell "FUCK YOU NERD" I should
warn you that i was exactly the same way before I saw this movie.  In
fact, I think this was the movie that made him really big, in the only
way he could have been when this move was made.




   Ok, so its like this:  Some samurai guy has a wife who he must
guard.  She choses to go about her journey on a dangerous path in the
hopes some thief would rape her.  And a thief does.  He rapes her in
front of her husband and then kills the husband.    Then the wife
decides shes scared of the thief and runs away.  Then a bunch of
peasants describe different versions of the even and their
interpretation of it



Its a bit more complicated than this but i found this movie to be one
of the most profound insights in to gender roles and explains in a
brilliant fashion why human nature tends to discriminate against women


I rate this the best japanese movie I have ever seen that wasnt a
dragon ball movie
