Unfortunately NTT caller ID is incompatible with just about everything
else: while the data encoding is similar to the SIN227 format, (line
reversal followed by FSK data according to V.23), the actual data is
quite different, and hence you won't get anything usable out of a
non-Japanese device.

The mark/space frequencies may even be different, it's been a while
since I last read NTT's analogue line interface document.

My Japanese equipment doesn't work on a SIN227 line, so I doubt it works
the other way around either. A cheap PHS phone and ホ?ムステーション is a good
combination, just make sure the home station supports caller ID.
