I've been there 3 times now. Its very touristy, even in the off
season. The first time I visit was peak season, so I went back in the
off. I thought I was just unlucky, so I went back again in a different
"off".

I think this has helped me understand why he wrote the books, and also
why Alex prefers Thailand.
