Hi. hope my answer would help you a little bit.
Touchpad is kind of Humen interface device. It will be automatically
installed on your computer when you are installing XP.
If the message show that " Code 24 " you migth miss connection
between your touch pad and mainboard.
check the cable between T/P and Mainboard, then pull out the cable
from mainBoard and reconnect it. and try again.
If it dose not working, then you might try to upgrade your Bios.
both is not working, just scrap it and buy new one, as not Sony
product.
for your information, Sony utility softwares have installation
order...such as Vaio utility -> library -> sound -> modem ...etc,
every vaio has different installation order, which is really make me
crazy at every time of format&reinstallation!! so I suggest you not to
buy Vaio if you have chance to buy your second Laptop.
