I'm a total amateur at this stuff, and unfortunately have no idea what
to do about something like that. I've got an old Kodak book somewhere in
my depressingly disastrous basement that has all kinds of good
information; as soon as I can find it I'll see if they have any sage
words of advice.

That guy is good, and refreshingly free of the "gee-whizz ain't this
place weird" attitude, which is not to say that Japan isn't weird.
Besides just enjoying the photos, I love stuff like that because it
helps me understand how to get my stuff to look bearable.
