That might be the case, but simply because there is an imbalance in trade doesn't mean that only one party benefits. The whole world has benefited from US and Japanese electronics. The USA will benefit from a billion chinese making stuff cheaply for them, even if they can only sell a little of the high end stuff back. A billion people is a big market, and even a small slice of it will revitalise a lot of American industry. The end that suffers will be what the Chinese can do better and cheaper.
