Amanda Winn Lee stated a number of times in that commentary that she changed things just because she wanted to. Added whole lines in because she thought they sounded better. She made Shinji say Fuck, she makes Misato say Fuck (in EoE at least, or so I've heard from people who have seen it at cons) she stuffs up Miasto's explanation about to Shinji about Adam and Lilith (Adam was _not_ born from Lilith). Overall I have a number of issues with the translation. This one in particular though is more a follow on from Matt Greenfield's work on the series for ADV. > If I remeber what little jap[anese I know there are situations > where there either is no singular form of the verb or no > plural form of the verb. Olivier addressed the correctness of this statement in his post. I just want to point out though that whether the Japanese word is plural or not is irrelevant. In the original Japanese they didn't use the Japanese word, they said the English word "Children". The Japanese Voice Actors were told to say the English word Children when referring to the pilots. First Children, Second Children, Third Children, etc... There was no need to "translate" anything. -- Michael Wignall "Tomorrow's just an excuse away..."
