Well, sorta.. then again, the fact that I'm calling myself an idiot
would mark me one in some respect but heck...

So anyway. If you're an ADV fan I guess now would be the time to stop
reading ;)

Today I finally flipped the sounddub to Japanese and started listening
to that. In some ways it was simply a laugh, especially if you're not
prepared for the speedy way the Japanese usually talk (and quite
frankly; Misato sounds rather silly sometimes) but what almost
immediatly caught me was the level of the sound effects in the overal.
There are some very clear differences between the English & Japanese
dubs - also - where the background noises are concerned.

The fun part, ofcourse, being that even with my limited knowledge of the
Japanese language (someday I'll get there) I can still follow some
dialogs without subtitles...

SO today I threw in my Platinum collection.. Now there is indeed quite
an increase in quality. I don't really consider the animation all that
much better but the soundtrack defnitly has quite a lot of improvements.

However, the downside being that I dislike the whole ADV issue a little
more less where the Platinum collection is concerned.. While I
acknowledge the fact that it maybe quite hard to re-create the same
voicecast setup after so many years (which in this case also has an
impact on the several commentaries on the Platinum discs) I really think
that they shouldn't have put all the attention to themselves.
