Well, one could buy an illegal pirated set of Evangelion off of Ebay;
I'm pretty sure the Hong Kong people make a 5-disc set containing
everything. On the other hand, then you wouldn't be supporting the
creators (who certainly seem to deserve it).

Underproducing items is not distinctly Japanese either; a lot of car
companies have started doing it for models like the Mini Cooper or that
Chrysler thing. Of course, the most famous example is Ty, the maker of
Beanie Babies.

I'm more interested in finding out when ADV plans to release the
Director's Cuts of the last six episodes, which they licensed from
GAINAX back in April. I suppose it's taking some time to assemble a
production crew and cast that last worked together four years ago!

I'm also *very* annoyed that the recent Japanese Renewal addition didn't
  include English subtitles. Had it, I might have just ordered the thing
rather than wait around for ADV to pick up the license for the "Renewal"
edition.

In the meantime, I'm unsure if I should go ahead and buy the Perfect
Collection or wait for all these new products to make their way to
America. Any suggestions?

Shoot, by that time maybe I'll have taught myself Japanese...
