Train service in Tokyo area (and Tohoku area) April 8
A strong earthquake shook east Japan near midnight last night.
JR trains around Sendai will not operate today. JR lines in Miyagi and
most of Yamagata and Fukushima are closed for the day. JR lines in
Aomori, Akita and Morioka will be closed until noon.
Railways in the Tokyo area are running along their modified timetables
with no major disruptions.

Keio has re-modified its timetable today. The company says the number
of trains was insufficient to carry workday loads. The new timetable is
close to the ordinary one.

Odakyu has announced that Romance Car services will partially resume
April 16. All runs will start/terminate at Shinjuku. There will be no
"Subway Romance Car" services for a while. There will be two daily
