Of all the tips this one seems to be the one that common sense tells
you to do. However, because a clean bike is a very important step to
long life, here are a few cleaning ideas that may help you before
storing your treasure. 1) Give your bike a thorough cleaning by
hosing it down and washing it with a good cleaning gentle wash
detergent. This allows you to keep the road grime and insect parts
from eating at the various surfaces during your motorcycle’s big
sleep. 2) Avoid spraying water directly into the open muffler. If
the baffles get wet and are not dried before storage, internal rust
could result. 3) Don't spray water directly into air cleaner housing.
If the air cleaner becomes saturated it could act as a choke making
it harder to start your motorcycle. 4) We suggest drying your bike
with a good Chamois. 5) Clean and polish any aluminum and stainless
surfaces with the appropriate metal polish. 6) Finally, finish up with
a coat of good wax polish on your painted and chrome surfaces.
