I had to leave before actually providing any of the explanations last
post.
With Outlook Express you first have to locate the old version's
.dbx files (searching for inbox.dbx will usually find the them).
Do not attempt to copy folder.dbx or any newsgroup files.
You also need to find the new Outlook Express files.
I'll give the method for a hypothetical mailfolder "MailList", just
substitute names for the rest.
1. Start Outlook Express.
2. If the "MailList" folder doesn't exist then create it.
3. Ensure "MailList" is empty.
4. Select "MailList" as the current folder.
5. Select any other folder.
6. Copy the old (large) MailList.dbx file over the new
(small) MailList.dbx file. (In some instances one or both
may have (1) added to their name - e.g. "MailList (1).dbx"
in such a case change the old files name to match that of
the new file).
7. Select "MailList" as your current folder - your emails will be
there.
