My wife was given one of Banana Yoshimoto's books by a co-worker many
years ago when they were all the rage. She threw the book away (she
_never_ throws books she doesn't like away, she passes them on to
someone else who wants to read them) and, when she changed work groups,
she stopped communicating with that particular co-worker, saying she
wasn't like "the rest of the women" she'd worked with.
