There's no indication of that in the archives, so you could be
confused, or perhaps Marek was? If there was a "rec.poems" anywhere on
Usenet, the archives would indicate there was. Here is the archive for
rec.arts.poems, going back to 1988, iirc, right after net.poems faded
away:

Maybe there was a "rec.poems" at some point, but it didn't make it
into the Usenet archives, apparently.
