On one mind, they know that it hasn't rained in well over a month, despite this being the venerated Japanese "rainy season". On the other, they are still wandering around acting as if this year is just like last year. They are still roto-tilling their small plots in order to absorb greater-and-greater amounts of non-existent rain. They've even taken to hauling the boxes that they normally use to pick the fruit they usually pick at this particular time. Problem is, the fruit isn't even close to being ready to be picked. In fact, judging from the fruit I've seen, it will never be ready. It's just too late, and even if it started raining today (not a chance), the fruit would just die on the trees shrivelled and fly-infested. What gets me is that Japanese know this drought is a reality, but can't seem to get it through their heads that this is a drought. They have their schedules, and the whims of mother nature don't matter. If I wasn't already well-acquainted with the ability of Japanese to overlook reality, I'd be scratching my head about now. Problem is that I know these morons like the back of my hand, and the back of my hand says that these boys wouldn't know enough to get in out of the rain. -- you know I should of suspected he was gay. his pecker tasted like shit.
