「入門CVSNT」を拝見してCVSサーバを構築してます。

Win2kにCVSNT Version2.0 58dをインストールしました。
システムの環境変数(S)には
「C:\Program Files\cvsroot」がありました。

hogeのユーザの環境変数(U)の[新規(N)]にて
変数名(N)…CVSROOT
変数値(V)…:pserver:hoge@localhost:c:\cvsroot

↓

CVS Service…Running
CVS lock service…Running
を確認

↓

Edit repository
Location…c:＼cvsroot
Name…c＼cvsroot
(Cドライブは一応、NTFSです)

※
上記の「＼」は「\」の事。
参考書に「/」でなく、「\」と記述するようにと注意書きが有りましたのでそのよう
にしました。
警告「Using drive in repositry names can create compatibility problems Unix
clients and is not recommended.Are you sure you want to continue?」
が現わてれも気にしないようにとのご解説です。

「Using drive…continue?」のダイアログボックスが現われる
↓
[はい(Y)]
↓
「c:\cvsroot exitsts,but…initialise it?」のダイアログボックスが何故か現われ
ません。

となってしまいます。
それで、コマンドプロンプトを一回閉じて、
新しくコマンドプロンプトを開いてから試すと

E:\MyDocuments\pLaTeX2e>echo %CVSROOT%
pserver:hoge@localhost:c:\cvsroot

となりました。そして、

E:\MyDocuments\pLaTeX2e>:pserver:hoge@localhost:2401:c:\cvsroot login
E:\MyDocuments\pLaTeX2e>

となりました(パスワードも何も聞かれませんでした)。
パスワードが聞かれるはずなんですよね?

やり方間違ってますでしょうか?
