It's too bad that custom didn't make it to Japan. I've been dragged to a few
weddings over the years and I'd love to bend a few of those brides over
backwards and then explain to my wife "It's traditional for guests to kiss
the bride". I don't know how many times she's used that same "it's a
tradition so stop bitching" argument with me whenever she wants me to do
something like ringing shrine bells and clapping my hands, or worse,
kneeling in front of a miniature shrine and praying to my father-in-law's
relatives! I've also tried introducing the concept of mistletoe a few times,
but the natives typically balk.
