No, if you take the 12000 plan on Tsuka pre-k long, it's activated to
receive
calls during 1 year, and the 1000yen card can last 1 year (or more if you
sign for 1 more
 yr after).
If you use that phone rarely, your only problem will be that the battery
will be empty each time you'll feel the need to use it.

IMHO, you need only one ketai : give it to your darling. Whenever you arrive
somewhere before him, go to wait at the nearest mosquitoe-free coffee or
restaurant and quietly call from there to announce the change. Things are
much easier when only one of the two have a ketai. I won't let you know if I
think it's better to be the one that can receive the new orders at anytime
or to be the free one that decides...
