That's an unimportant detail. It's sure he's worked till last week for
North-Korean spying services, which is certainly considered worse than
deserting for US army members. (it's like joining Al Qaida)
But, you know, the other abucted also did that for a living. They probably
did many trips (missions) to Japan over their years of "being abducted", the
way they have kept perfectly their fluency and accent in Japanese shows they
did not live isolated from the Japanese speaking world. For me, none of the
6 (Jenkins + the 5 Japanese) are clear. I suppose that anyway the Japanese
government intends to check what they do for the rest of their lives or at
least as long as the situation with North-Korea is not getting normal.
