Not exactly; algebraic terms are not the only usage. One might conceive 
of a hypothetical computer language which indeed used the ^ sign for 
powers, and hence which would make the above syntax correct.

By your definition (Pen)^2 = PenPen. Officially, however, IIRC its name 
is Pen-Pen. Therefore the simplest form is not (Pen)^2, but rather just 
"0". Same for Nuku^2... oops, I mean 0.
