Gazing vacantly out my window today (as I am wont to do), I suddenly saw a
humpback whale lift his body about a third out of the water, then crash back
down. He couldn't have been more than a couple hundred meters off shore.

I yelled for the wife to come and see, who of course had to grab the video
camera first so missed the whole thing.

I actually hadn't known that whales come down here, so I was a bit
surprised. Checking the Interweb thingy, I see that the season is Feb - Mar.
We're within sight of the Kerama Islands, which is supposed to be the best
spot for them, so hopefully we'll get some more chances to spot them.
