I'm not sticking up for the websites as such, I'm just interested in what
kind of relationship exists (if any) Eric's characterisation of imperialism
and the characterisations of US actions as merely another form of of "evil"
imperialism. Would he see a parallel, or would he say, basically, British
and Japanese occupation of other countries was inherently and utterly bad,
but US occupation is inherently and utterly good?

Well, yes, I don't think this is quite the reception the US envisaged and
Britain is making quite strong signals that it wants to get out. Funny,
after Northern Ireland you'd think the Brits would know it's generally a lot
easier to get into these kinds of situations than out of them, but I suppose
each generation has to learn these things afresh.
