Almost nobody in the US can define or describe Communism, even though it has so much in common with the present American Republicrat (also known as Demopublican) dictatorship. Same huge army of government bureaucrats. Same preoccupation with the COMMUNIty interest being more important than that of The Individual. Same strive to take over the world. Same believe in their system being the best in the universe. Same push for an uncontested national religion (theirs was the Atheism). The advantages of the US Republicratism: higher standard of living for most of their people; more freedom to travel the world, more opportunities to choose one's business or occupation. The advantages of the "Advanced Socialism" of the USSR: much less crime, less people encaged in their prisons (I have in mind the 1970's and 80's, not the Stalinist years), overall direction toward less and less restrictive society (the opposite of the direction the US society is currently moving toward), employment security, free higher education and medical care.
