I found this on Animenation.com:

"Renewal of Evangelion Revealed
Newtype Magazine (Japan) has revealed the first details of Gainax Studios
new "Renewal of Evangelion" project. The "Second Coming" of Evangelion is a
marketing blitz apparently designed to squeeze still more profit out of the
7 year old franchise. The merchandising push will include a release of the
Evangelion TV series to Japanese DVD, for the third time, this time with
remastered video and Dolby 5.1 audio, a new series of UFO catcher dolls, a
new series of action figures, another CD featuring still more re-mix
versions of the TV series opening and ending themes, and two versions of a
sequel to the "Kotetsu no Girlfriend" (Girlfriend of Steel) adventure game
for the PC."

Gah. How many more remixes of "Fly me to the Moon" can they DO? Thanks to
the Eva OSTs I know all the words of that [BLEEP]ing song by heart...

I dunno if the "improved" DVD release is "all that"... how many times can
you clean up the video, anyway? 5.1 audio is nice, though.

(I can see it now... release 5005: "The Essence of Evangelion-- all visuals
have been restored to a pristine white void filled with thoroughly ambiguous
meaning")

Now if one of those DVDs has an Extra on it called "We tied up Anno, filled
him with Truth Serum and got him to produce the 'End of Eva for Dummies'
segment" I might go for it.

-sigh-

Actually, I think they'd be better served if they made a prequel to Eva. It
could show the acquisition / decoding of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the
factions that arose from tha, like SEELE etc, (also explaining the finer
points of the Eva plot along the way (a least how the groups wanted it to
go) show us everyone's parents (and how they came to their respective
fates), the genesis of NERV, the MAGI, the Geofront, the early Eva
construction / tests, all that good stuff.

Or heck, make a special 15 minute "extension" to EoE that shows us what
happened immediately after. Cheaper, and still bound to sell like hotcakes.
