She's posessed by an inhuman being, for one.  She has no past or 
childhood, for two.  Oh, and for three, she turns everyone on Earth into 
Tang.

Truthfully, I'd say she resembles Kikyo from Inuyasha, except replacing 
the "having to eat souls to survive" part with the aforementioned Flesh-
to-Tang spell.

(BTW, I don't dislike Rei.  Among other things, I highly respect her 
arresting character design.  Like the manga incarnation better, tho, of 
course.)
