I just got book 7 #3, and I was wondering how they were going to handle the 
Suzuhara thing.

It looks like in the manga they just plain killed him off. No hospital 
shot, Kaji talking to Shinji and saying he is dead. So unless he still 
shows up later, I would say he's a goner.
