My father actually believed that because of the Opium Wars and the
colonization of Hong Kong, no Chinese would ever take drugs or
facilitate drug taking because we would be permanently outraged. But he
also thought that because the British knew how evil drugs were, the
British would never have a drug problem. Do we reap what we sow, yes
but it looks like it's not so straightforward. It looks like overall
the world suffers and so the people responsible suffer also because the
world is not a better place but do they realize that? Or do they get off
on having a superiority complex and having the power to choose who
deserves sympathy?
