I would agree with that. It has been a long while since I was on AA but their services was absolutely horrid. JAL has FAR better service than just about any other airline I have used (not overly extensive by any means but still.) A bit aggro with JAL for some of the flight routes they cut but can't really be helped. They probably ran themselves into the ground because their service was so good. Just hope I can make use of my air miles with them.
