I have an A45-S150 that suddenly started running VERY slowly because of
overheating. I did pretty much what you did but it didn't help. The local
Toshiba service center opened it up and said the motherboard wasn't
communicating with the fan, and that a new board would be required (board +
fan + labor = $500).
I bought a Thermaltake Mobile Fan II External USB Cooling Fan from Amazon
for $16.50 and used Velcro and duct tape to stick it to the bottom of the
case. I use Motherboard Monitor to keep an eye on the CPU temp, and the fan
does a fine job of cooling. It's in the way a little bit and I can't use
the computer on battery power, but the fan will get the job done until I can
come up with the bucks for a new computer.
