Life is non-refundable, learn to deal with it.  And yes, until you pay them
money for the ticket, the fare could change.

Just have a relative with a credit card buy the damn ticket for you.
If you need an excuse, tell them that you're going to a "conference" in
Osaka for school.

They may not even ask you to pay back the airfare!
