The 14th WWW conference is coming to Japan next month. http://www2005.org/ for information. Featured speakers include Berners-Lee himself, father of the WWW. If you hate travel as much as I do, it's your big chance. There aren't many conferences at this level, and they don't make the rounds to Japan very often.
