In Hawaii and I don't know where else, there is NGN TV for maybe five hours
a night (it repeats in the morning), a premium cable channel which costs
about twice as much as others such as HBO, which is primarily poor quality
videotaped copies of Fuji TV game shows or variety and trendy dramas (even
South Korean), mostly subtitled and months behind Japanese broadcasting, or
even reruns such as Chura-san repeatedly or years later. My wife was amazed
to see how Oshin is broadcast time and again. There is also what is claimed
to be live sumo, and NHK news one day late, ie, the correct date for the
time zone.
In other words, it is quite a drag. I would also like to choose from TV
Tokyo, Asahi, NHK, and the rest.
Is there anyone who knows about getting their own satellite dish to watch
Japanese TV direct?
