I'm looking a title of a japan animation film I saw when I was a kid, on 
the french TV. I can't remember the title and need your help. It was in 
1982-1984, since holidays... It was a complete story in 2 or maybe 3 
episods (on french TV of course... it may be more in Japan); Here are 
elements of the story I can remember :

It was the story of a young human, saved and adopted by aliens on a 
strange planet. This people have the ability to change their appearence, 
and metamorphose themselve into what they want.

They was very concerned about environment. They hunt lezards, but they 
dont kill them, and just cut their tails. The tail can grow again and 
environment is preserved...

The young man decide to leave is planet, perhaps to find who where is 
parents.

A small animal follow him. He can change his shape. And at the end of 
the story, we discover that it is in fact a beautyful young girl, in 
love with him, who wants to follow him in his adventures. I can't 
remember me precisely, but she was hurt, and maybe died...

The young human met a strange little man, who as a time machine. They go 
together in the past to find the parents of the young boy...

That's all I can remember... I hope somebody help me to find the title, 
I really want to see it again...
