All Scotch is labelled whisky. Two theories...

this is because the Scots cannot spell,

or

because the anglicisation/bastardisation of uisgebeatha took place in 
two different places more or less independently.

(The second theory has its proponents, but it doesn't lead to as many 
interesting drinking arguments)
