Oh, ok. Yes, it's very nice that he could be so calm, when I read that
other British veterans claim they would kill Japanese on sight today.

Then the question is not yet answered. What was the reaction to *knowing*
such things about the war, their country's history, or their countrymen,
perhaps their own fathers or grandfathers? I've read a number of stories of
old soldiers giving public lectures on what they'd seen or (much more
rarely) done, but I don't see or hear public reaction that I can recall, if
such is reported, and I don't know what their own families think about
their husbands, fathers, or grandfathers, experimenting on live humans or
killing and raping civilians, because I've certainly not read reports on
that.
