Agree on the spam, but the bacon and root beer are great.

There is a chain of fast-food restaurants down here called "A&W." This was
an American chain, but the last one in the US went out of business 20-odd
years ago. Here, they still have the drive-up speaker, where you park your
car, and bark your order into the speaker. A waitress then brings you out
your order to your car. Just like on "Happy Days," except without the roller
skates.

And at A&W is served the famous A&W root beer, with your choice of a dollop
of ice cream on top, as well as onion rings made from actual slices of
onion -- the kind where you take a bite and get the whole onion, then are
left with a ring of empty koromo. Totally cool.

My wife left Okinawa before she could develop a liking for the sublime taste
of root beer, but her older sister was old enough to appreciate it by the
time she left. Whenever she visits, she goes back with about 10 cans of
spam, and a case of root beer.
