It could be considered to be an example of unconscious irony. Unconscious
irony usually results when the speaker says something that has a result or
effect that he/she is not aware of, usually in stark contrast to the
speaker's intention.

It could also be considered to be a form of self-betraying irony. This is a
particular form of unconscious irony in which the speaker reveals something
unintended about him or herself, usually something he or she is either not
aware of or would prefer not to reveal.
