Ok, since you obviously went to government school, let me spell it out 
for you:

1. Your dad is a "real go-getter"
2. You have evidenced no such behavior

[ok, I am going to switch gears here now, so try to keep up]

3. The proverb "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" means 
"children are like their parent(s)"
4. Your evidenced behavior and woes so far do not betray any "go-getter" 
inclinations on your part. This would make you unlike one of your 
parents i.e. your father.
5. Since "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" means "children are 
like their parent(s)", an apple falling far from the tree would mean a 
child who is not like his parents. Isn't that fun? I changed some words, 
thereby changing the meaning!
6. Thus, when I say to you, "Apple fell far from the tree, eh?", that 
means I think you do not share the mentioned trait of your father. In 
other words, you are not a "real go-getter"
