I remember that on the Manga releases of the movies they make mention on the commentary track about Fuyutski-original having dropped off the face of the earth. On the note of underproduction, it's occurred to me that the probable reason for Japanese companies to do this is to guarantee profits. If they rely on very conservative demand numbers and produce only a few units which they know they can sell, they will definitely make a profit. While they could produce more, they then put themselves at risk of having unsold profit. Greater risk == greater returns, good or bad. Sure annoys me though. I've been trying to get the US DVDs of FLCL, which started selling out as soon as the show aired on Adult Swim. Synch-point (the company with US rights) only made 10,000 of the special box set. Anyone want to sell me theirs for less than the ridiculously inflated prices on Ebay right now? --Drinian
