Had the same problem few weeks ago.
It happened in my Minolta 7i; card was not regonized anymore.
Also not accessible in two different CF-card readers.
Could salvage my pictures in two ways:
- reading it in a Canon Digital Ixus 430 by its USB-interface
- by CF-reader of my Archos Gmini 400

So my advise is find a friend with a (newer) CF-camera !!!

What I think happened: FAT was corrupt because severall pictures
could only partial be saved and other pictures had an illegal
second SOI or SOFn JPEG marking. If someone knows who to solves
this please let me know:-)
