Well, I'd certainly accept actual images from the anime as being more
canonical than other forms of art (except possibly production
sketches)...IIRC, the scene where we see the most of Asuka is during
her "great wall" speech, before she pulls the sliding door shut. I
don't recall Rei ever having quite that much going on!^^
