I thought the job requirements were much more stringent.
For what it's worth, my company here in the US has the same mindset as
yours when it comes to working from home. My current manager isn't so
bad, but my last manager got angry with me because I took his policy
too literally. He said that if I needed to stay home because my child
is sick, then I need to take a sick day and take care of the child. I
said the boy isn't a baby and when he's sick he just lays around and
watches TV with a trash can to puke into if the need arises (note this
is how I have handled many Sundays). Boss said there's no work from
home policy (despite my having a laptop), so take a sick day. So I did
no work at all. None. Didn't answer my cell phone when he called,
didn't look at email, etc. He asked why. I said because you told me to
not work and to take a sick day, so I took a sick day and didn't work.
Surprisingly the policy didn't change and he still always got mad when
someone didn't work on their day off.
