General Secretary of China arrests local internet troll
NY Times Nikolas Kristoff June 19th 2006
Be careful of what you say on the internet! A local internet troll
by the name of Jie Min had Chinese police bust in to her home and
arrest her after an incident with General Secretary of China Hu Jintao.
The alleged incident, which took place on the internet, involved
Jie Min calling the General secretary of China (who was, however, using
an anonymous internet alias at the time) an "idiot
, followed up with comments that the Hu jintao would never have sex and
that his mother should have swallowed him. Temporarily insulted, Hu
Jintao immediately demanded that the Chinese Security Beureau find out
who she was. Not considered an immediate priority, Jie's IP address
(and her actual address) was decoded and sent to the chinese police
within 2 days, who then proceeded to arrest her. Her trial will take
place over 2 weeks.
"People should be careful of what they say, internet or not"stated
CCP official Mai Ling. "However, Hu Jintao is a very caring and
sensitive person and never took insults lightly."
